Endorsement Announcement: The Mossalam Campaign is Massachusetts Teachers Association Approved

Having the stamp of approval from the Massachusetts Teachers Association

is the honor of a lifetime. I am so grateful to be trusted as a partner in the fight for strengthening public schools, colleges, and universities to maximize student learning, defending and promoting the rights and benefits of public education employees, and raising revenues to ensure quality public education.

“Nichole Mossalam has a long history of standing shoulder-to-shoulder with public school union educators in the fight for improved working and learning conditions, public sector workers’ rights, housing justice, and more,” says Deb Gesualdo, President of the Malden Education Association. “I am confident that Nichole has what it takes to represent the working people of Malden and Medford as State Representative and look forward to continuing to organize alongside her in the community.”

Education has the opportunity to be the great equalizing force. However, there is a glaring lack of top-down support for our teachers, paraprofessionals, and students despite Massachusetts being ranked as having the best public schools in the country. As a mother of three kids in our public school system, I understand firsthand how children and families feel this impact across the Commonwealth, and where we must do more.

This is why I've made education and schools the focal point of my campaign. Between budget shortfalls in Medford and Malden as well as a lack of action at the state level, families deserve a representative who will go to bat unapologetically for students, teachers, paraprofessionals, and every school staffer in between. We must prioritize delivering the $1.5 billion dollars promised in the Student Opportunity Act, pass the Cherish Act to make higher education more accessible, remove MCAS as a graduation requirement, and establish a living base salary for all teachers and paraprofessionals to address retention.

No price tag is too high for a quality, public education. Investing in schools today means a brighter tomorrow for our children - no matter what dream they choose to chase.
